The Perfect Red Striped Dress for Summer

red striped dress

Hi beauties,

For years I believed that horizontal stripes were off limits for girls like me. I was told that horizontal stripes would make me look wide, so I avoided them at all costs.

Today, I can’t imagine a world without horizontal stripes! I love stripes because they are such a classic yet fun print that adds texture to simple, every day looks. Stripes compliment many other patterns, like floral print or cheetah print, seamlessly without looking tacky.

Lately, one of my favorite mix and match combos has been stripes and floral print, so when I saw this perfect red striped dress, I knew exactly how I wanted to style it. The blue floral neck scarf adds a feminine, playful touch and dresses it up without being too extra (or so I’d like to think). The pink espadrille wedges (which you can get here for $10) and straw circle bag are great summer staples that helped tie this look together.

You could easily make this striped dress more casual by paring it with white low top sneakers, a baseball cap and a backpack purse. It would also be cute with a white denim jacket (like the one I styled here).

This dress is so affordable (under $15) and is perfect for your summer BBQ’s, 4th of July festivities,  picnics, pool parties or days exploring the city. Is it weird that I just envisioned myself wearing this striped dress and a pair of sandals riding a bike on the beach with my hair blowing in the wind? Ha!

Outfit details: Red striped dress, $13.50 | Blue floral nekerchief, similar here and here | Pink espadrille wedges, $39.95 (but get your first pair for $10 here) | Straw circle bag, $44 | Mantrabands, $35

Before I purchased this dress I was skeptical about the fit. I couldn’t tell if it was a bodycon dress (like this sequined dress) or more of a swing style (like this dress). It’s right in between! I sized up to an XL for more of a swing style fit, so if you want a similar fit I recommend sizing up.

This dress will definitely be going into my suitcase for my Euro trip this summer! Do you have any events you could wear this dress to this summer? I’d love to hear!
